Parenting Discussions

Last week I discovered a discussion board about parenting. The very interesting part of the board is that the users are separated geographically, with one board for parents in New York City an another board for parents in San Francisco. Evidently, plans have been made to bring on more cities in the near future.

In the meantime, it is amazing to read the different attitudes between parents on the two coasts. This is beyond mommy blogging and quite an introspective on mothering differences. And, of course, I have opinions on several of the topics, so I have made a few tentative posts to see if my thoughts are received well or will I be flamed for my opinions?

Deals To Be Found

Was considering purchasing some type of musical instrument for my nieces birthday since she is showing signs of actually have some talent that most of our family inherits, on both sides, so maybe she got a double dose. There might be a need for head phones like the sennheiser hd 201 one that I pictured below, for her parents to use while she is learning a instrument like the sax!

Her mother has been urging her to try and learn the saxophone, of all things. I’ll keep my opinion to myself on this subject. I’ve been spending a bit of time online at various websites checking out what it is out there these days and for how much. Berg Larsen seems to keep popping up with saxophones and their various equipment that is needed for such a complicated musical instrument. But like I said I’ll keep my opinion on the choice of musical instruments to myself.

Pleasant Surprises

Don’t you just love pleasant surprises? I don’t know about you but the majority of the surprises than land in my lap are not very pleasant. I guess there is probably a slew of sayings about how we all have to embrace the hard times in order to enjoy the good times, blah, blah, blah…….

Anyway I am running a bit late for this whole Christmas/Holiday season. It will be December in less than a week and the clock is ticking. I’ve been doing the majority of my gift shopping online, getting some pretty deals and my list is getting a bit shorter, but not short enough to suite my taste.

The good surprise is the 2 shelf utility cart that I found at Musician’s Friend’s for way less than $100. I seriously thought that it would be more expensive and what’s even better is that is it free shipping! I love free!

they still have the green

Sing with the King

Last week, Sony BMG Music Entertainment created a Web site that allows anyone with a decent voice to record “Blue Christmas” as a duet with Elvis Presley. As a promotion for the new “Elvis Presley Christmas Duets” album, Martina McBride’s part is cut out and you sing in her place.

The promo web site is singwiththeking dot com, with a link to order your copy of the actual Duets album and a phone number with a special access code so you can sing with Elvis over the phone. If you like the recording, you can send it in a Christmas e-card to friends and family. But if you can’t match Martina’s voice, you have the option to send the original duet instead.

It sounds like fun!

Green Energy Hosting

A few days back I wrote about the New Year’s resolution that I made almost 9 months ago concerning the issue of becoming as green as possible this year. There is so much that we can do to become eco-friendly besides the recycling push that has been going on since the 70’s, although recycling is a big deal, no argument there folks. I’ve been trying my best to recycle anything that I can possibly think of and have been known to get on my recycling soap box from time to time in an effort to bring attention to the growing problem of people not taking this push seriously enough. What can I say, recycling can be easy enough and it just needs to become a daily habit that we all can incorporate into our busy lives.

Anyway, I’ve talked about finding a green webhosting to switch to and I believe that I have found the best one for me at GreenGeeks dot com. They are the World’s #1 Green Energy Hosting that not only is energy efficient but reliable and powerful.

I’ve decided to go ahead and make the plunge from the only web hosting provider that I’ve ever had to the GreenGeeks at the end of next month the beautiful month of September. I’ll keep you posted from time to time here and I’d like to hear from others that would like to do what they can to help save our Mother Earth in various ways that are out there today.
