Saving Money For The Spring Plantings

The majority of my close friends and family are totally into the outdoors in one way or another. Spring is a busy month – what with getting all the much needed spring cleaning done, cleaning up the property from the winter months terror and then you start in with the planting of flowers, bushes, trees along with the fruit and vegetable gardens as well. With all the spring rains that we hopefully will receive, comes the need to get the lawn mowers out getting the grasses under control as well. A busy time indeed and I can’t wait for it to get here. The sooner the better as far as I’m concerned. This cold weather doesn’t agree with me.

This is all pretty hard and labor intensive work each year, but it has to be done and the fulfillment that comes along with the completed tasks is awesome and very rewarding. This past winter was an interesting one (to say the least) what with all the bad news about the economy and the politicians that have been found guilty of so many outrageous behaviors, like cheating on their wives and not paying their taxes. And of course we can’t forget all the drama that went on before, during and after the election. People are getting used to (but certainly not happy with) turning to ways to save money and get jobs done them without having to turn to costly professionals for their equipment and/or their services.  The need for garden equipment these past few years has been great amongst us.

Quiet Thanksgiving

This year we have to stay close to home instead of getting together with the whole family for a big meal. There’s a bit of a tiff underway and I want to part of it. So we are staying home and I’m cooking a small turkey for just us. I think I’ll do sweet potatoes and a couple of side dishes that are my long time favorites, like corn pudding and turnip greens with relish.

Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving – no matter where you are when you sit down to eat. And be sure to kiss and thank the cook!

Try White Vinegar Instead

My sister just told me that I could be using white distilled vinegar instead of liquid fabric softener in my washing machine that works just as well as any fabric softener around. I thought she had fallen off of her rocker at first but then I decided to go ahead and give it a try and lo and behold she was right. Now how cool is that? It is much cheaper and is better for the machine!

Too Old For Rock-N-Roll Concerts

I don’t think that I would enjoy going to a music concert at this point in my life. The last one I went to it was because I was given two Zac Brown Band Tickets and I felt obligated to go, why I don’t know, but I did. I called up a friend from work and she jumped at the chance to go, so off we trotted, dressed to kill, ready for a night of fun rocking and rolling our hearts out even though it was a work night and we both needed to be at work bright and early the next morning. We grabbed a quick bite to eat and had a couple of after dinner drinks to get us in the mood and got there just moments for the show started.

Things went down hill from there I’m sad to say. First, it was way too loud and we were stuck in seats that were right in front of one of the largest speakers that I’ve ever seen in my life. Second, we had assigned seats but no one wanted to sit down during the performance so we had to stand up as well which really sucked after working all day, on my feet for the majority of the time. Even standing up we couldn’t see much so we kept sitting down a good part of the time. The third problem was with the group of people behind us, it was a big group of people that must have been smoking something and chasing it with whiskey or tequila or something just as horrible, their behavior was totally outrageous, they were loud, mean, vulgar and kept arguing and fighting between themselves, it was just crazy.

The next day at work we were both dragging, feeling like little old ladies, which was very disturbing to me. It was then that I realized that my concert going days have come to an end. I don’t care if some one turned me on to some Elton John Tickets, I’m done. Now that’s not saying that I don’t want to attend any type of live performance. I love comedy and I’d love to get my hands on some Dane Cook Tickets, he is my absolute favorite comic, right up there with Jeff Dunham and Jeff Foxworthy. Go ahead and make me laugh any time, please.
