Welcome November

The weather does not really feel like autumn yet, but here it is November already. I don’t like to count down until Christmas, but it does seem like there is a sense of urgency to get into the spirit of the holidays.

I am focused on Thanksgiving now and will do a little bit of Christmas shopping here and there until after Turkey Day. We also have Veteran’s Day to celebrate this month. And I’m sure that one night, very soon, I will have to resort to turning on the furnace and getting heat in the house to stave off the chilled night air.

Native Instruments

Since I seem to come from such a musical family (I was left out of that whole loop) I will be spending a good amount of time this holiday season online looking at various musical equipment, instruments and all the wonderful accessories that are available these days.¬† Not only have I been looking at all these goodies but I’ve place several orders and am anxious for them all to arrive safe, and sound..

One of the better sites that I’ve spent a good amount of time and money at has some pretty terrific¬†Native Instruments that I know my kid brother would just love to get his hands on. I’ve all ready purchased a birthday gift for him, several months back actually, so I have sent him the link to the site on Facebook.

Funny how we really don’t talk face to face much these past couple of years, it’s come down to using texts, Instant Messaging, email or Face Book. The only time I really see him is the few times a year that the family tries to gather for Thanksgiving and Christmas. He just isn’t the type of person that is comfortable around family, he’s pretty much a loner, but we still love him and won’t stop trying to reel him in any time soon.

Got Herself A Southern Man

Just got started settling in after the big Christmas dinner when the house phone rang with an old school friend on the other end calling to wish me a Merry Christmas. This was just so totally out of the blue since we don’t really communicate with each other all that much, but it was really cool hearing from her. She just recently married a nice looking man who is an accountant and moved south to live out the rest of her years in the warmer weather than she has been dealing with in Vermont for the past 25 years or so.

That was a nice Christmas surprise hearing from her, a nice way to end the day of Christmas 2015.

Pleasant Surprises

Don’t you just love pleasant surprises? I don’t know about you but the majority of the surprises than land in my lap are not very pleasant. I guess there is probably a slew of sayings about how we all have to embrace the hard times in order to enjoy the good times, blah, blah, blah…….

Anyway I am running a bit late for this whole Christmas/Holiday season. It will be December in less than a week and the clock is ticking. I’ve been doing the majority of my gift shopping online, getting some pretty deals and my list is getting a bit shorter, but not short enough to suite my taste.

The good surprise is the 2 shelf utility cart that I found at Musician’s Friend’s for way less than $100. I seriously thought that it would be more expensive and what’s even better is that is it free shipping! I love free!

they still have the green

Sing with the King

Last week, Sony BMG Music Entertainment created a Web site that allows anyone with a decent voice to record “Blue Christmas” as a duet with Elvis Presley. As a promotion for the new “Elvis Presley Christmas Duets” album, Martina McBride’s part is cut out and you sing in her place.

The promo web site is singwiththeking dot com, with a link to order your copy of the actual Duets album and a phone number with a special access code so you can sing with Elvis over the phone. If you like the recording, you can send it in a Christmas e-card to friends and family. But if you can’t match Martina’s voice, you have the option to send the original duet instead.

It sounds like fun!
