If It’s Sunday, Then It’s Football

October 4th, 2009

The is the fourth week of the NFL 2009-2010 season. My two favorite teams are not doing well. At All.

Today the Titan’s play in Jacksonville at noon.My Redskins also play at noon against Tampa Bay, so I won’t be able to watch that game.

That pretty much kills the entire day. Don’t have time to anything before the game except read the Sunday paper and cook up the football grub. Afterward, I have time to do a little laundry and get online for a bit, then it is the “Amazing Race” at 7:00.

Gosh, this sounds so domestic and boring, but in actuality I really enjoy this day. It’s cozy and filled with family and entertainment. So I’m a happy Donna on Sundays in the fall and winter.

Two Out Of Three Aint Bad

October 14th, 2008

So the Predators lost their first game but now they’ve won the next two games. The team is finally coming together with new lines and a handful of rookie players that need to get their rhythm. Two out of three aint bad. Sounds like a song, eh?

Friends called this morning to ask why we weren’t at the last game. They were so sweet to notice. We promised to see them soon.

Hockey Tonight

October 10th, 2008

The new hockey season opens tonight, with my favorite team, the Predators, playing against the Blues in St. Louis. We are going to watch the game on TV.

There are a lot of new, young faces on our team this year. I will miss some of the veterans who got traded away. It broke my heart when I learned that Darcy Hordichuck was sent to North Carolina. He was my favorite player for several years. And we dumped our starting goalie, Chris Mason, in favor of the new youngster, Dan Ellis. They gave Chris Mason to St. Louis, so since we are playing against them tonight – it will be interesting to see how that works out.

Vandy is HOT!

October 4th, 2008

The Vanderbilt football team has never enjoyed much recognition and has never been very good, historically losing more games than they won, year after year. But last year they starting getting hot and had a little encouragement from the local press. This year they are Red Hot and are winning close but exciting games against all comers. They have won 5 in a row – I think that is unprecendented. Today they beat Auburn in a very close game – they were behind with just minutes to go and they scored 2 points to edge ahead and win. Amazing game and year for Vanderbilt’s Commodores.
