Busy Day!

Saturday, April 14th, 2012

I used to love Saturdays when the kids were little. It always meant something fun, like a trip to the beach or all those baseball games. When the weekend came, we always had someplace to go and something fun to do. I was a master at coming up with low cost or free events and adventures. Usually all I had to worry about was putting gas in the car and away we would go!

Some of my favorite memories are the days we all spent tubing down the Shenandoah River or body surfing at Chincoteague Beach. And, of course, there were many many days and nights spent at my mother’s home on the river, where the boys went fishing and swimming and boating during the day and dinners at the Dairy Queen in town.

Now my Saturdays are spent running errands and cleaning house, and if I’m not too tired, maybe a couple games of Spades on the internet before bed. But now I have my blog to add to the To-Do list, and I don’t mind making room for that at all! This blogging is pretty easy, once you get the hang of it.

University of Alabama Apparel

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

For Christmas I found the best deals on some University of Alabama shirts that I just couldn’t pass up to get for a friend at work who went to that university a few years back. When she moved up here a lot of her belongings were lost in the move and she really was into her Alabama apparel and was really broken hearted when all of hers went missing.

We have become quite close this past year and so. We have started eating lunch together most days and have gone out a few times after work on a more personal level, which has been fun. I don’t have a lot of friends here, I left all of my friends when I moved down here almost 7 years ago. It’s hard to make new friends when you are a mother and work full time, there isn’t a lot of time for me and my needs, so it works out well to have a good friend at work considering how much time we spend at work.

It was so cool to draw her name at out Christmas gift exchange this year since I knew what would really float her boat this year. So many times you get stuck with a name for someone you really don’t know or like and it can be tricky finding the perfect gift. I really hate just buying a generic gift for anyone, putting a little thought and consideration can go a long way when you buy a present for someone.

Christmas Wish Lists

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

Taking the day to research some of the gift ideas and suggestions that I have on my list of Christmas presents that I seriously need to get a start on. My sister is wanting a pair of fox racing shoes for women, since spends most of her time on the run. My daughter really wants some new foam floats for pools (she calls them floaties) that she just discovered over the summer while taking swimming classes at the Y.M.C.A. and which she wants to continue doing come next summer. And what to get my mother is still a mystery at this point, sigh…..

The only guy in the family that I know what they have their wish list is my son who has been looking at some electric bb guns for some time now and pestering the crap out of me to buy for him for either his birthday, which is in December, or as a Christmas gift. I’ve discussed it with his Dad and we have decided that now would be an all right time to get him such a thing. He is a good kid and pretty responsible, but I still get a bit anxious when I think of him with any type of gun, bb or not.

The Removal of Grease

Friday, October 7th, 2011

I have always been a dirt magnet for as long as I can remember. It used to drive my mother crazy with all the clean up that required when I was around and involved. And as far as clothes go, I gave up on wearing anything white decades ago because that is just asking for trouble where I am concerned. I have ruined more clothes in my life time that anybody has a right to for goodness sake.

Since I am not what you would call a girly girl and enjoy getting my hands dirty I have had to learn how to clean myself up along with all the other messes that always seem to make where ever I go, sigh…..One thing that I have learned to try and stay away from is grease since it can be a real pain to deal with in so many areas. I love that WD-40 has come out with a No Mess Pen that you can carry in your purse or pocket. As you know trying to remove grease can be tricky.

Preparing For Christmas Gift Giving

Friday, September 16th, 2011

I just ran across some great deals on some of the scorpion helmets that my motorcycle riding kid brother has been drooling over for the past year or so.  I’m going to go ahead and order one for him and keep it to use as a Christmas present for him. I really hate waiting until the last minute to do my holiday shopping so I tend to pick things up throughout the year when I see them and can afford them. It works for me much better that way.
