Well now that I know what a good soundbar speaker can do for your (my) listening pleasure, I have decided that I would like to purchase one for the TV in the living room which is connected to the kitchen, which is where I spend a good amount of my time in. I have been saying for years that I am having an issue hearing the big 42 inch flat screen TV that we got a few years back with one of our tax return checks.
Of course I am usually multi-tasking while everyone else sitting on their rears, so that has an impact on my listening. I usually have the kitchen sink running, or the microwave oven buzzing along, and of course there is the dish washer that is anything but the nice and quite models that they have out now, along with the all the noise that goes along with the shuffling of dishes, glasses and silverware and my pots and pans. With all of that going on I have a major handicap when it comes to trying to hear what is being said and/or played on the TV, we have the Closed Captioning turned on and that has helped quite a bit, but who ever is in charge of that whole issue is seriously lacking what it takes to translate and put into words accurately and in a timely fashion, but that subject is for another time….

Didn’t I feel like an old, married with children, fuddy duddy type when I had to confess today at work that I had no idea what a soundbar speaker was. And when I fessed up that I didn’t know what a soundbar speaker was and was led to the closest computer and shown pictures of various soundbar speakers I was surprised that I had not known about these wonderful little pieces of technology that is making sound systems sound better for so many people, while I was being kept like a mushroom, in the dark.
I hate it when I’m made to feel so out of touch with things, good grief one person can only know so much and I guess I haven’t really been into the sound system scene since I was a teenager and into my 20′s. After that life basically revolved around babies along the other kids, the husband and the house. Besides the only music that listened to for so many years was music from Sesame Street, Barney The Big Purple Dinosaur and all the other songs that little kids listen to and we mothers find ourselves surrounded by whether we like(d) it or not.
I know, these soundbar speakers can also be used on TVs as well, but as my music listening days went out the door, so did most of my TV viewing opportunities, but this is another story for another time.

It’s funny how we have turned into a society that really takes their Movies and Television so seriously. I can’t imagine living life without a Television set, I mean I can’t even go to sleep at night without my TV on all night long. There are times that I think that I would have really enjoyed a life in another time, like back in the frontier days, or over in Asia in the days of the Shogun with their Ninjas and Samurais, but when it is all said and done I don’t know how I could even consider such a thing since I am totally spoiled with all of today’s technologies that we pretty much take for granted in our daily lives.
We have pretty much turned into what The Jetson’s (the old 1960′s cartoon show set in the future) portrayed us as being. It’s funny how often I find that show being referenced when technology is being discussed. If you were to watch one or two of the episodes of that show, I believe you would be surprised to see all of the similarities of things that we are now using or on the brink of using. It can really freak you out.
I have always loved my TV. I’ve heard some good things about Netflix. I know a lot of people that subscribe to it and are ranting about all the movies that they get to see, when they want to see them. Guy Movies, Chick Flicks, Horror and Suspense Films, Action Films, Love Stories, you name it and you can find them on Netflix. I was kind of hoping that I would get a subscription for Christmas, but that didn’t happen and I can’t afford it myself right now, but that’s OK, there will always be good movies out there, no shortage there folks.

When I was a little girl, we used to take Lee Highway to go around the Northern Virginia suburbs. When we got close to Merrifield, we would always see this huge figure of Nipper, the dog. Nipper was the mascot for RCA records. I loved watching this big dog and the record player from the back seat of my Daddy’s car as we drove by, I don’t believe it is there any more. But it was fun to find this old photo of a childhood landmark.
