Trick Questions

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

During one of the most bizarre job interviews I ever had, I was made to take a “character and morality test.” They never told me whether I passed or failed. I always wondered if there were trick questions on that test. Especially the one that asked if you have ever cheered for the “bad guy” in a movie. Answering yes probably got me disqualified from that job, but I was honest.

There are a lot of movies where you cheer for the “bad guy.” The one that came to mind was “Cool Hand Luke.” I always felt that he was wronged throughout his incarceration, and that the sheriff was wrong to not get him medical care when he was shot. As far as I’m concerned, the sheriff murdered Luke, which makes him no better than the people he was arresting.

They Said What?

Well now that I know what a good soundbar speaker can do for your (my) listening pleasure, I have decided that I would like to purchase one for the TV in the living room which is connected to the kitchen, which is where I spend a good amount of my time in. I have been saying for years that I am having an issue hearing the big 42 inch flat screen TV that we got a few years back with one of our tax return checks.

Of course I am usually multi-tasking while everyone else sitting on their rears, so that has an impact on my listening. I usually have the kitchen sink running, or the microwave oven buzzing along, and of course there is the dish washer that is anything but the nice and quite models that they have out now, along with the all the noise that goes along with the shuffling of dishes, glasses and silverware and my pots and pans. With all of that going on I have a major handicap when it comes to trying to hear what is being said and/or played on the TV, we have the Closed Captioning turned on and that has helped quite a bit, but who ever is in charge of that whole issue is seriously lacking what it takes to translate and put into words accurately and in a timely fashion, but that subject is for another time….

The Bigger The Better

I would love to be able to have a home theatre at my disposal like so many of the rich and famous have in their multi million dollar homes, with their fancy home theatre system speakers that make any movie theater look and sound like a basement kiddie play area. There is a new show on TV that I some times tune into that is all about how the high dollar lottery winners from all over the country have done with their winnings and it seems that a good amount of them have a home theatre system installed.

An Out Of Touch Mother

Sunday, August 14th, 2011

Didn’t I feel like an old, married with children, fuddy duddy type when I had to confess today at work that I had no idea what a soundbar speaker was. And when I fessed up that I didn’t know what a soundbar speaker was and was led to the closest computer and shown pictures of various soundbar speakers I was surprised that I had not known about these wonderful little pieces of technology that is making sound systems sound better for so many people, while I was being kept like a mushroom, in the dark.

I hate it when I’m made to feel so out of touch with things, good grief one person can only know so much and I guess I haven’t really been into the sound system scene since I was a teenager and into my 20′s. After that life basically revolved around babies along the other kids, the husband and the house. Besides the only music that listened to for so many years was music from Sesame Street, Barney The Big Purple Dinosaur and all the other songs that little kids listen to and we mothers find ourselves surrounded by whether we like(d) it or not.

I know, these soundbar speakers can also be used on TVs as well, but as my music listening days went out the door, so did most of my TV viewing opportunities, but this is another story for another time.

MTV & VH1

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

I have been finding myself watching a whole set of different channels offering a whole different types of TV shows. I used to watch MTV and VH1 back in the days when they actually showed music videos and when they starting changing their formats from the videos I slacked off on tuning in, until now.

I have been been a fan of reality shows but the ones that I’ve been watching on these channels have sparked my interest such as, Teen Mom2, Made, Jersey Shore and several others that I can’t seem to remember the names to right now. Anyway it’s a nice change from the other channels and shows that I’ve been watching for so many years and I’m enjoying the change for now.
