Up and Down

January 29th, 2012

Gas prices just drive me crazy. It’s hard to believe that on Christmas Day the price of gas finally hit under the $3 mark, $2.99  to be exact, while today it has risen to $3.49 a gallon. That is a 50 cent increase in just over a month. I hear that we could be seeing prices above the $4 a gallon mark come summer, sigh…..

What really bites is that the gas station that had gas for $2.99 was closed on Christmas day so I didn’t even get to buy any.

Go figure.

Country Scene

January 26th, 2012

This photo was taken in Springfield at the home of a man and his wife that asked me to help them sell their property and their business. The man is called Popeye by everyone in town, where they have lived all their lives. They are moving to a new home being custom built for them on the same property but farther down the state road from their home and business. It is a beautiful farm and country property. I wish I could find the rest of the photos I took while there to share with you. I’ll keep looking.

Becoming a better writer in 2012

January 22nd, 2012

Guest post written by Diane Kimball

I’ve toyed around with writing short stories over the years, but I’ve never had the guts to actually try and get them published. Well, I decided that this year I should try and finally get some of my writing published. I’m not expecting to actually get paid for any of my writing, but I thought that it would be nice to at least get something in print so that other people can read it. Besides, I’m tired of just writing for myself, I would love for other people to actually enjoy my writing too!

I’ve been looking online for some tips about how to get published when I ran across the website debtcounseling.bankrupt.com. After I looked through it a little bit I decided to use the site to help our family evaluate options for our debt because you know that isn’t a problem that will just go away on its own, unfortunately.

I have gathered a few ideas about how to get my writing published, including some names for some literary magazines. I think that I’ll have to send in my work to some of those and see if I get any good response.

Fur Jackets and Fur Vests

January 19th, 2012

Been taking some time checking out various fur jackets for sale online. I received numerous gift cards for Christmas that I am taking my time deciding and researching before jumping in and actually using them on a shopping excursion. I’d love to use the gift cards for fun things, but in actuality there are more important things that I could be using them on and a nice fur jacket would be splendid.

Today’s fur vests are cool also, something that I’ve been interested in checking out for some time so I’ve been looking at fur vests for sale as well on the good old World Wide Web tonight. We have had a very mild winter so far, but I just know that we will be paying for that later on down the road and I’d like to have nice warm outer clothing on to help keep me toasty warm. Cold weather and I just don’t see eye to eye these past couple of years so I’m grateful for the mild winter so far. But nothing good lasts forever, am I right?

Man I can’t wait for spring.

Cyber Week and Other Interesting Finds

January 11th, 2012

I had no idea that there was a Cyber Week, good thing I check my Facebook at least once a day or I would miss out on all kinds of goodies like this. I also just found out that my uncle is in the hospital and my nephew has been diagnosed with COPD and sleep apnea and my sister is taking belly dance lessons. You just gotta love Facebook and all of the information that you can get quickly and pass on as well.
