New Red Wing Boots Thanks to Scooter

Saturday, May 19th, 2012

Looks like I’m going to have to buy another pair of women’s red wing boots, since Scooter (our dog) decided that he didn’t appreciate being left alone in the house this afternoon while we all enjoyed a nice picnic with several family members outside with this beautiful weather that we have been blessed with this weekend. Scooter has never done anything like this before, usually I let him outside with us but for some reason that didn’t happen and now I’ve got to find some new work boots and fast.

If I can get hubby off of his favorite site on the computer called “put this on” I might be able to find a pair and get them ordered in a timely fashion with some of the money that I have left from this week’s paycheck. Having to use this money to replace my boots will certainly take away from my lunch money for the next two weeks. Looks like I’ll be packing home made lunches for a while, sigh.

Leather

Saturday, May 12th, 2012

I don’t know about you, but when I find a good leather purse that I love, I will do anything I can to keep it looking good and help it last. After awhile, the dye will fade and so I have learned a lot about leather dyeing just so I can keep my favorite purse looking good as new. It certainly comes in handy and saves me money, which is the best part.

My Late Night Sweet Tooth

Monday, April 30th, 2012

I don’t know what got over me at the grocery store the other night. I spent way too money and came home with a ton of chocolates. There isn’t a piece of chocolate in this house and I have been craving chocolate each night the past week, which I haven’t been able to produce to satisfy that driving craving that hits you late at night, when you are too tired to go out anywhere to get what you are so wanting.

It has been a couple of months since the Christmas holidays have come and gone. Along with it went all the Christmas goodies that end up in the house that time of year. Cakes, pies, cookies, candies, chocolates and all the wonderful deserts that people make during that festive holiday season. The house is back to normal (or as normal as it will ever be) and there isn’t a trace of last year’s festivities and summer is on it’s way!

When I went grocery shopping they were having a massive sale on their chocolates and I couldn’t make up my mind on which ones to get so I went a little crazy and bought a bunch of different kinds, just in case. I now have a good sized bowl in the kitchen filled with a nice variety of chocolates that should keep my night time cravings in check for a few months.

Mom is Lonely

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

The Author of this post is Cheryl Martinez

Sometimes I feel so guilty for living so far away from my mom. She lives in Florida where I grew up, and I live with my husband and kids in Washington, DC. She likes to be on her own, but I worry about her. When I speak to her on the phone I get the feeling all she does all day is sit by herself and watch Cable tv. She has a few friends but they are all busy spending time with their own families. I have invited her to come and live with us several times, but she says DC is too cold for her and she never wants to live here. I hope that eventually she will decide to come and live with me, but I don’t know if that will ever happen. I try to visit her as much as I can, but it’s hard to make the trip that often. It’s expensive to fly the whole family down there and we can’t always afford it. I guess if she needed us she would call, so I try to put it out of my head and do the best I can. My husband says that maybe in a few years he will start looking for a job in Florida. I hope that actually happens so I can help my mom.

Italia Guitar For Me

Sunday, April 22nd, 2012

Italia Guitars have been a favorite of mine for some time now and since I am getting a decent sum of money back in the next couple of weeks from my 2012 tax returns, I figure this is as good as time as any to go ahead to buy myself one. It’s been a long time since I have been able to treat myself to something just for me, some thing fun and exciting. Heck they really aren’t all that expensive, so I have decided to place my new Italia Guitar on the top of my Tax Return Wish List.
