Back in the 60′s, the development of stereo was big news for the music industry. This song was one of the great demonstrations of how cool stereo can sound. It was also a song that my father loved and he taught my two sisters and I how to sing it for that year’s family Christmas party.

Boom Boom
Tuesday, October 25th, 2011This is one of my all time favorite songs, written and performed by the great, late John Lee Hooker.
This song is performed by John Lee in the Blues Brothers movie and there are other clips on YouTube. But this one from a 1966 TV show is my favorite.
I saw John Lee in concert at Wolftrap when he was in his 80′s and could not stand up to play any longer. He sat in a folding chair and gave a great show – full set – and he rocked the house.
Canadian Records and Applications Online
Friday, October 21st, 2011One day I hope to visit some of the people that I know that have moved way up north to land we call Canada. I have never been anywhere even close to the canadian border so it will be a real adventure for me when the time comes. I do enjoy checking out a good amount of canadian sites that I am sent links to from time to time that are sent to me via emails from my friends. At least I can understand the language unlike any sent to me from friends over in France and Spain LOL!
Crayons
Tuesday, October 18th, 2011How many adults have a box of crayons in their homes?
I do – I have a small box of 8 of the fat crayons for preschoolers and a big box of the regular crayons in 64 different colors. We break them out of the crafts box when kids come over for a visit.
I can teach young ones how to draw several different flowers with stems and leaves, a duck and a rabbit. My grandmother taught me how to draw a pansy – they were her favorite flowers- when I was just a little kid.
We keep an assortment of coloring books on hand, but to me the biggest challenge about coloring is facing a blank sheet of paper and thinking up something to draw.
I hope some day in the future a grown kid will think of me and the flowers and animals I taught him or her how to draw.
