With summer over and the cold air returning, the trees have been turning the most wonderful colors. Autumn is truly one of the best times of the year. The smell of the smoke from bonfires and barns is just amazing. Of course, the down side is that when the leave all fall, we have to clean them up. But that is alright because it gives us a chance to get outside in the brisk air and of course playing in the leaf piles is always fun too.
We like to take long drives at this time of year and just enjoy the fall colors. Sometimes we will just pack a small bag and take off for the weekend. We will find a small B & B a couple of hours from the house and spend time exploring the area, hiking, fishing and touring antique shops. Sometimes we will find little oddities to tour as well. Once, we rented a little log cabin up the Smokies and toured Gatlinburg. It was beautiful.
You never know what you are going to see. We’ve seen buffalo, long horn cattle, black bears and horse drawn carriages. We even found an elephant sanctuary on one such trip, down in Hohenwald. That was a lot of fun I can tell you now.
You should really try a drive out in the country sometime. It helps to get away from regular routines and just enjoy life.
My son turned me onto one of the most entertaining and enjoyable of “Reality Show” impracticable Jokers. It comes on the TruTV channel on our cable package. Not a channel that I had ever spent any time watching. It now is on top of my “Favorite” channels!
This show is about four long time best friends that enjoy embarrassing each other in any way that they can! So far my favorite episode is when Sal and Murr try to get someone in a campus library to hush them, using bird calls, jingle bells, tubas and other loud sounds that are not acceptable to produce in a library any where. The cymbals at wwbw.com turned out to be too much for Sal to handle so he walks out with his head hanging down low and is one step closer to be that nights “Loser” and that is never a good thing.
We have finally got everything together to take to H & R Block in order to have our taxes done for this year as soon as the 10-99s come in and they could come all the way up to the end of January. Usually we get them in a timely fashion, but there is no way to tell until it happens.
The way I figure it we should be getting back a decent amount of cash for this year and I am all ready dreaming of how we are going to spend it all. So far, a second honeymoon in Maui seems to be out weighing all the other ideas. Our first honeymoon was supposed to take place there but it didn’t work out that way and we have never gotten over the disappointment of not being able to visit the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands that we both so looked forward to doing back then when we were young and hadn’t started a family yet.
I have all ready began looking around online to see what is going on down in that area of the world. I had no idea that the economy has really taken it’s toll on this picturesque island that so many people have enjoyed visiting through out the years, but it is still a wonderful and magical get-a-way option and I am excited at the prospect of actually going there and seeing for myself what so many others have enjoyed all these years on the very popular 17th largest island in the United States.
The Internet has a wealth of information about Maui and I intend to learn as much as I can about it before going there. I have always believed in learning as much about a place before going, don’t like going in blindly. Now I want to start looking at the wonderful accommodations that are available in Maui, I’ll worry about air fair and transportation issues later down the road.
One very cool thing about my family is the way the numbers of our birthdays fall. There is a definite pattern of numbers and my mom played those numbers on one of her Las Vegas trips and actually won Keno money from them. The birthdays for the 5 of us run 21, 19, 17, 15 and 13. Isn’t that cool?
That numbering pattern didn’t follow through with my kids. Mine were born on the 1, 2 and 4.
I’ve heard bits and pieces of this saying for many years, but I’ve never been able to find the whole thing. My best friend sent me another cute email today and at the end of it was this saying! Finding this was the best thing to happen to me all week.
