One of my all time favorite musicians was killed years ago in a helicopter crash. At first they thought that Eric Clapton was the one killed, but it turned out that Eric had given up his seat to Stevie Ray Vaughan.

I have been observing the rapidly growing number Spanish-only speaking residents there are living in the area, and I have noticed how many English-only speaking residents there are that are reluctant to learn how to speak Spanish. There is a lot of hostility on the part of the non-Spanish citizens, and I often hear remarks like “If they are coming to this country then they need to learn English.” I also hear a lot of anger about how our tax dollars are being wasted on illegal immigrant families. I’m not sure that is really happening, but the general perception is that it is happening.
I am trying to understand both sides of the issue, and I just want to say that I think it is important that we ALL learn to speak BOTH English and Spanish. Eventually we are all going to need to know both languages in order to get along in every day life here in America. And I think it is important that we all get along!
It’s so hard to believe that with over 140 channels to pick from that there are times when I cannot find a single thing on the TV that I care to watch. I just switched over from cable to satellite and am for the most part very happy with what I am now able to view, but it just blows me away when I just can’t find anything on. I am the type of person that has to have the TV on almost 24/7, I can’t go to sleep without the darn thing on. My bad, I know….
We new that the time was close at hand when we would find the need to find a good assisted living arrangement for my grandmother. It is a good thing really as she doesn’t want to burden any of the family members by moving in with any of us, but she certainly will miss her home that she has lived in for almost 50 years. When my grandfather passed almost 10 years ago we were all so very afraid that she wouldn’t be able to handle living in their house alone, but she managed to get by just fine up until about a month ago, so we are trying to be pro active in looking for the best Assisted living community in the area that we all agree on and that grandma will appreciate as well.
It’s been a rough couple of days lately. I some how got myself a stomach bug that has turned my life upside down but I am finally feeling up to real food again. I made grilled cheese sandwiches and nibbled on a small handful of Lays potato chips. I’m still drinking a lot of green tea, and I think maybe I’m getting addicted to the tea. I have a cup by my side all day and even take a cup to bed with me and leave it on the night stand.
I’ve given up on TV – the only time I turn it on is to watch the 10:00 news and then I shut it off again. I’d much rather listen to the music I have in my collection and have been playing a lot of oldies but goodies to just listen to them again. It’s not as depressing. Found an old album by Robert Cray that’s really easy on the ears. Haven’t listened to him in ages – love it.
