Too Much Snow
Here we go again!Woke up to snow this morning and it has been snowing all day – again!

This is too much snow and too cold for my comfort. But the entire country has snow this week. Every U. S. state except Hawaii.

We don’t get much snow here and when we do it is an event. People panic and close schools, run to Kroger for groceries and buy a load of firewood from the guys in pickup trucks parked on the side of the road.
To be prudent, the school board allows 5 snow days each year to be built into the school calendar. Last year we did not use a single snow day. But this year, we have already used up all 5 and are going to have a 6th day tomorrow, which will have to be made up later this spring. And we still have 5 weeks of winter left to go!
Today is the longest day of the year – as far as sunlight goes. I love summer – its my favorite time of year. I love the long days, the beaches, the outdoor activites. I could easily be a snowbird and move every year to stay in a warm climate. Thankfully, the winters are pretty mild here, so I don’t have to move. If winter lasted more than the 3 or 4 weeks we have here, I’d be packing and heading south – that’s a guarantee.
It might not be officially summer for another week, but let me tell you, it’s plenty hot around here. We have been taking cover from afternoon thunderstorms every day for more than a week. Last night the storms had heavy rain and hail, plus lots of lightning strikes. I was so concerned about the lightning that I unplugged the computer and the video games so that if we got hit by lightning that they would not get fried.
