As 2009 comes to a close, I am glad to see that year end. It was not, overall, a good year for me or my family.
We are welcoming 2010 with high hopes for a better year. We need a return to prosperity and security, and are willing to work for it. Let’s get busy and see what we can do!
Hope you had a nice Christmas. We had a quiet day, with a few nice gifts and lots of good food. I appreciated the quiet part – I don’t really like a lot of noise and swarms of people. It is much nicer to have a few good people close by your side.
This year we have to stay close to home instead of getting together with the whole family for a big meal. There’s a bit of a tiff underway and I want to part of it. So we are staying home and I’m cooking a small turkey for just us. I think I’ll do sweet potatoes and a couple of side dishes that are my long time favorites, like corn pudding and turnip greens with relish.
Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving – no matter where you are when you sit down to eat. And be sure to kiss and thank the cook!
Back in the 60’s, the development of stereo was big news for the music industry. This song was one of the great demonstrations of how cool stereo can sound. It was also a song that my father loved and he taught my two sisters and I how to sing it for that year’s family Christmas party.
