We are snowed in again. This is the third storm this winter that has affected schools and kept me trapped in the house. We have an inch on the ground with more snow predicted tonight and even more predicted next week. I wonder if the Farmer’s Almanac called for this much bad weather this winter? If I ever get out to the store again, I might just pick up a copy of the Almanac and read up on what it forecast for Tennessee.

I’ve toyed around with writing short stories over the years, but I’ve never had the guts to actually try and get them published. Well, I decided that this year I should try and finally get some of my writing published. I’m not expecting to actually get paid for any of my writing, but I thought that it would be nice to at least get something in print so that other people can read it. Besides, I’m tired of just writing for myself, I would love for other people to actually enjoy my writing too!
I’ve been looking online for some tips about how to get published when I ran across the website debtcounseling.bankrupt.com. After I looked through it a little bit I decided to use the site to help our family evaluate options for our debt because you know that isn’t a problem that will just go away on its own, unfortunately.
I have gathered a few ideas about how to get my writing published, including some names for some literary magazines. I think that I’ll have to send in my work to some of those and see if I get any good response.
Menopause, Not A Laughing Matter
Sunday, January 22nd, 2012I know that menopause is nothing to really laugh about. I’m not looking forward to the day that I start feeling the effects of “The Change”. For some women it isn’t all that big of a deal, but in my family it is a major issue with the majority of the females that have gone through and the ones that now are going through it all. So something tells me that I’m in for one heck of a hormonal change. Not something to look forward to folks! But for now let’s have a giggle or two with this comic. I wonder which one I’ll be when my time comes……..
University of Alabama Apparel
Saturday, January 21st, 2012For Christmas I found the best deals on some University of Alabama shirts that I just couldn’t pass up to get for a friend at work who went to that university a few years back. When she moved up here a lot of her belongings were lost in the move and she really was into her Alabama apparel and was really broken hearted when all of hers went missing.
We have become quite close this past year and so. We have started eating lunch together most days and have gone out a few times after work on a more personal level, which has been fun. I don’t have a lot of friends here, I left all of my friends when I moved down here almost 7 years ago. It’s hard to make new friends when you are a mother and work full time, there isn’t a lot of time for me and my needs, so it works out well to have a good friend at work considering how much time we spend at work.
It was so cool to draw her name at out Christmas gift exchange this year since I knew what would really float her boat this year. So many times you get stuck with a name for someone you really don’t know or like and it can be tricky finding the perfect gift. I really hate just buying a generic gift for anyone, putting a little thought and consideration can go a long way when you buy a present for someone.
Gypsy – One of My Favs
Wednesday, January 18th, 2012I have always been a fan of Stevie Nicks and her music. She has made some awesome videos, too.
I love just about every song that she has done on her own, and I love the songs by Fleetwood Mac. I know I have at least three of their albums in my music collection.
I would be thrilled to meet her some day.
