We did not get our Sunday paper this morning. I went out at 6:30, then again at 7:30 and there’s no paper. My neighbors don’t subscribe, so I don’t know if the paper carrier came though here or not, as there are no other driveways to check and see if they got one and just not me. This is so frustrating. I was looking forward to sipping on my cup of coffee and reading the paper this morning for an hour or so while everyone else sleeps in late and the house is quiet. Bummer!
School is almost out. Tomorrow is the last full day of school and then the kids go Thursday long enough to pick up their final report cards and clean out their lockers. I think all the library books have been rounded up and turned in. So we are good to go! Bring on the summer!
One of my favorite songs from long ago is “Stand By Me.” I just love the idea of having someone in your life so loyal to you that they would be by your side – no matter what.
Then a movie came out with that title. It was a really good movie – very well written and totally believable dialogue and story line. Haven’t seen that movie in a very long time, so I thought it would be fun to pop it in the DVD player and watch it while doing laundry and some general housework.
In all the years I’ve lived here, I have seen some flooding, but nothing like the rain and flooding we are having this weekend. It has been raining very hard, almost constantly, for 3 straight days. The highways are under water and entire neighborhoods are being evacuated. Scary times for Tennessee, but we are on high ground and should be safe.
