Just can’t get in the mood for Christmas shopping, but I realize that we are just 5 days away from Santa’s descent down my chimney. So I had better get busy. There are several people out of town that I won’t get to see in person this year, so I’m plucking a variety of giftcards from the kiosk at Kroger and sending out lots of cards this year. They today is the deadline to get things mailed using regular Post Office mail, so I’m heading out early and getting as much done today as I can do.

Five Days and Counting
Tuesday, December 20th, 2011Vet Scrubs
Thursday, December 15th, 2011I had to take one of my dogs to the vet today, a trip that no one enjoys taking, but twice a year I load her up in the car and haul her old butt up the street to the local veterinarian for her check ups. Squeaky is over 13 years old and she doesn’t like having to get in and out of the back seat anymore and she knows where we are going so she doesn’t make it any easier than she possibly can for the duration of the entire task.
I really like the people that work at this medical facility for animals. They are always friendly and I usually don’t have to wait very long for any of the many procedures, office visits, shots, and all the other times we end up in their waiting room. It’s nice to see their dress policy allows the more upbeat vet scrubs for their medical uniforms that most folks are required to wear if they are in any type of medical position. They have some pretty cool veterinary scrub fashions to choose from these days, not just Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse that we are all so used to seeing so much of for so long. You can find many of these medical uniforms at http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Women/.
Sobe in Plastic?
Thursday, December 15th, 2011For an occasional treat, I will enjoy a nice cold Sobe beverage. My favorite is the Green Tea, but I also like the citrus flavor and recently tried the Nirvana, which has a melon flavor. All these years the Sobe drinks have been in tall glass bottles. But today when I bought a citrus Sobe, the bottle was not glass – it was plastic. What’s up with that?
Activated Charcoal for Odor Removal
Thursday, December 15th, 2011This morning I went down stairs to the basement where I have my large freezer jam packed with frozen food, only to find that some how the door was not closed all the way, for god knows how long, and every piece of frozen food had gone bad. I had probably over $1000 worth of food, mainly meats, stored in there. What a bad way to start the week out and what a mess I have to look forward to cleaning up.
I just might call in some professionals, what with Christmas in less than two weeks I really have my hands full. I may have to go online and look for a place that can use activated charcoal for odor removal if the odor is too bad for me to stomach. I’ve used http://www.thesteamteam.com/austin-cleaning-services/ in the past and have been happy with them and what they have done for me in my previous times of need through out the years of home ownership. There is never a good thing for something like to happen but there certainly are worse times and right now is a pretty bad time, argg…
Stand By Me
Thursday, December 15th, 2011One of my favorite songs from long ago is “Stand By Me.” I just love the idea of having someone in your life so loyal to you that they would be by your side – no matter what.
Then a movie came out with that title. It was a really good movie – very well written and totally believable dialogue and story line. Haven’t seen that movie in a very long time, so I thought it would be fun to pop it in the DVD player and watch it while doing laundry and some general housework.
