Signs of Spring

March 27th, 2010

The first sign of spring was the dandelion that popped up overnight in my neighbor’s yard.

There are yellow blooms on the forsythia bushes now, and this afternoon I saw a bumblebee buzzing around the mailbox.

Soon we will have blooming azaleas and the Bradford Pears will be full of white blossoms.

Sing it, Stevie!

One of my all time favorite musicians was killed years ago in a helicopter crash. At first they thought that Eric Clapton was the one killed, but it turned out that Eric had given up his seat to Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Happy Birthday Wm

March 13th, 2010

One of my brothers is celebrating a birthday today. It is not one of the “big ones,” but the cool think about his birthday is that I was 10 years old when he was born. And then, when my first born son was born, my brother was 10 years old. So we have me minus ten years equals my brother, and he minus ten years equals my son. That’s the family math.

Happy Birthday, William!

Movie Critic

March 6th, 2010

Years ago I took a course on screenwriting, taught by a famous actor and screenwriter while I was in Washington DC. He opened my eyes and my mind to the way movies are created. Now I can’t watch a movie like a normal audience member. I watch it with a critical eye and look for little tells, like the common locations and Hollywood tricks used during filming. I would love to be a movie director on a project and hope to write a screenplay that actually becomes a movie some day.
