Boom Boom

April 21st, 2009

This is one of my all time favorite songs, written and performed by the great, late John Lee Hooker.

This song is performed by John Lee in the Blues Brothers movie and there are other clips on YouTube. But this one from a 1966 TV show is my favorite.

I saw John Lee in concert at Wolftrap when he was in his 80’s and could not stand up to play any longer. He sat in a folding chair and gave a great show – full set – and he rocked the house.

Angels Sing

April 16th, 2009

This awesome performance by Susan Boyle on the British show, “Britains Got Talent” wows the judges and I am so taken with this lady. I can’t stop watching her clip on Youtube. It’s been embedding disabled, so if you’d like to hear this angel’s voice, click here.

Tornado Update

April 13th, 2009

The Good Friday tornadoes that ripped through Rutherford County left behind over 40 people hurt badly enough to seek medical attention, over 90 homes completely destroyed and another 300 or so homes severely damaged.

The news reports on Fox 17 had a lot of good video coverage worth watching to get a good idea of how much damage was done:

Tornadoes in Murfreesboro

April 10th, 2009

We have had severe weather warnings all day, with tornado sirens going off in Cool Springs, Franklin and even Hermitage again today.

Luckily we were spared any actual twisters near my house, and we just had strong thunderstorms with a lot of lightning and heavy rain. But Murfreesboro was hit by at least 4 different tornadoes and suffered a lot of damage. I’m sure there will be more news and better coverage on local TV tomorrow.

Crash in a Bucket

April 6th, 2009

I had to bring home a large plastic bucket to load up some mail and Crash decided it was a nice place to hang out. He likes my laundry basket, too, and once he jumps in he is not climbing out. He’s funny about where he likes to hang out – it has to be smaller spaces and contained so he feels secure.
