There’s a Chill in the Air
October 18th, 2008
My goodness. Yesterday was gorgeous weather, in the upper 70’s and a slight breeze. But this morning it was like waking up to the Twilight Zone. The temperature never got above 55 and they are calling for as low as 33 degrees tonight. Well, there goes the rest of the tomatoes still on the vine.
This is the time of year that made Fried Green Tomatoes famous. When you know it’s going to frost and you go pick everything left on the vines, ripe or not. If they are still green, slice’em up, dredge them in seasoned bread crumbs, and fry them in a shallow cast iron skillet. Delicious!
