April Showers
April has always been one of my favorite months of th year. It is spring, no matter where in the U.S. you call home, although that means different things in different parts of the country.
Around here it means temperatures in the 70’s most days, and rain for a couple hours at a time, several days each week. We need the rain for the flowers, lawns, gardens and crops, so most days I don’t mind the rain and changing my schedule a little to accommodate Mother Nature.
The rain is usually gentle and steady, but we do have a few nights when they are calling for severe weather, which often means the threat of tornadoes. That is why we keep the TV on 24/7 – so if there is a tornado warning we will know from the special blaring warning that comes on all the local TV channels.
Tornadoes are not to be dismissed lightly – if there is a warning issued, then you truly need to take cover. Your life and the safety of your family may depend on those split second decisions – because bad things don’t always happen to just “other people.” Protecting the ones you love is one of the most important responsibilities you have as an adult.
